Chiropractic Care

Dr. Harris adjusting patientChiropractic care helps your brain communicate clearly with your body through your nervous system, which runs through your spinal cord and spine. When spinal bones shift out of alignment, they can interfere with this system and affect how you feel and how your body functions.

At Hexis Chiropractic, we focus on finding and addressing the root cause, not just masking symptoms. We take time to listen, explain what’s going on in a way that makes sense, and create a clear, personalised plan to help you feel and function better. Whether you’re dealing with ongoing discomfort, want to stay active and healthy, or are seeking care for your family, we’re here to support you.

Understanding How We Pinpoint the Problem

Before any adjustments, we want to know exactly what’s happening. During your first two visits, Dr. Harris uses spinal exams, postural evaluations, movement assessments, and when needed, on-site X-rays to get a clear picture of your spine and nervous system. This helps us understand where the problem is and why it’s happening, so we can address it properly and help you avoid repeat issues.

The “Five Circles” Model

To help our patients understand the profound impact of chiropractic care, we use a unique “five circles” model. These circles represent performance, chemicals, glands, the nervous system, and the spine. When misalignments occur in the spine, they can influence the nervous system, which in turn can affect the glands and chemicals that control various aspects of your health and performance.

During your visit, the neurological and postural diagnostic process starts with a thorough exam to understand how your spine, posture, and nervous system are working together. This includes hands-on checks (palpation), simple in-office assessments, and—when needed—instrumentation and X-rays to get a clear picture of alignment and function. For pregnant patients, the exam also focuses on the pelvis and low back, checking posture, spinal balance, and surrounding soft tissues to spot areas of stress or misalignment. Using a detailed Gonstead-style assessment helps pinpoint the root cause first, so your care plan can be tailored to what your body actually needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if someone is afraid of the adjustment or cracking?

The sound or idea can seem intimidating if you’ve never experienced it before. The “crack” or pop is just harmless gas bubbles releasing from the joint – like opening a soda bottle – nothing breaking or painful. We start using a thorough analysis and gentle techniques if you prefer no sound at all. Most feel relief right away. Millions get adjusted safely daily, and your body’s designed for this.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No referral is required from an MD or anyone else. I am trained to evaluate, diagnose, and address subluxations right here. We’ll do a full exam (history, exams, maybe X-rays_ to confirm Chiropractic care fits your needs, and refer out if something is outside my scope. This gives you faster relief without gatekeepers.

What is the difference between chiropractic and physical therapy?

Chiropractic is rooted in the principle that spinal misalignments interfere with signals, compromising the body’s innate ability to heal – adjustments correct this at the source for whole-body function. PT, by contrast, emphasizes restoring movement through targeted exercises, stretches, and manual therapy after injury or surgery.
